So there I was sitting at lunch with a friend and she said, how do you do it?
I said: What?
She said: Eat that big cookie and not gain weight?
I said: ….ahhhhh it’s my secret. You want to hear it?
She said: of course!
I said: I keep my blood sugar balanced.
If you want to avoid weight gain this holiday season and beyond, keep your blood sugar balanced.
You can do that by eating quality protein, fiber, and healthy fat at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Here’s why it will help:
Protein takes a lot of metabolic energy to digest. So, eating a small portion of high-quality protein at each meal will keep your metabolism revved.
Fiber is not only good for your digestion, but it helps you feel full.
The fat will give you concentrated energy and help you feel satiated, which helps to make it easier to avoid processed carbs, sugar and junk food.
I suggest you:
➡️use high-quality protein like grass fed beef, pasture raised eggs, and wild caught fatty fish;
➡️eat healthy fats like avocados, butter, chia seeds, nuts, coconut oil, and dark chocolate;
➡️fiber is easy, just fill half of your plate up with vegetables like broccoli, squash, salad greens, brussels sprouts (here’s a great recipe), etc. or if you need a snack, keep the doctor away with a nice juicy apple.
Keep your blood sugar balanced by eating 3 square meals a day and those occasional cookies won’t hurt you.
I shared a bunch of great tips that might help you set up your plate at a party or holiday gathering, while eating the foods you love and not gaining weight in a training I recently did. If you have 10 minutes, click here to watch it. I’d be interested to hear what your biggest take away was from it.
What tips can you share to help avoid weight gain? Please reply and let me know. I would be happy to share them.
That’s it for today.
Until next time,
